Knitted Cowl – Take 2

We received so many nice comments regarding the knitted cowl we decided to make a second one! First, cast on 25 stitches, (Video on how to cast on using two needles),

Knit garter stitch rows till the rectangle measures 45 centimeters.

Bind off (Instructions on how to bind off ).

Finally saw both ends together sideways, using needle (see picture), and that’s it! You are done!

Merry Christmas! Crochet Cell phone Case

For years and years I refused to upgrade to a smartphone, I don’t know why, I guess I wanted to make a point that I didn’t need technology to live a full life..jajaja….then last year my dear brother Javier gave me an iPad for my birthday…Rosita as we call her…(yes, my iPad has a name)….and I fell in love all over again with technology. Then, this year, my dear friend Marta gave me a smartphone so I HAD to crochet a case for it, and here it is! Very simple single stich, I worked on it in the round, I started with 15 chains for my base and crocheted single stitches all around. Mine has 35 rows but it will depend on the size of your phone. The yarn is leftover from my matriushkas project (Deborah Norville Serenity Garden Yarn (Fine or Sock Weight), “gems”) I am still looking for a button to close it…Pao didn’t like any of the buttons we had at home…the perfect excuse for a Joann’s Fabrics visit!

Crocheted flower necklace

I wanted to learn how to crochet flowers and found these beauties in Attic 24 http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/teeny-tiny-flowers.html . They are easy and fast to make, less than 5 minutes (I timed myself). I used embroidery thread since I wanted sort of an ombre effect, you know, gradually changing colors. It’s a great conversation piece; every time I wear it at least someone asks me where I got it!

Beige capelet (poncho) or cowl? You decide!

We were so excited with our first knitting attempt, we tried a second piece. It started as a larger cowl, with more stitches, and it ended as a capelet for a younger girl or a cowl type of wrap for an older lady :). Materials: two balls of yarn  Loops & Threads - Charisma, off white  color 3.5 oz (100 gr)

More Christmas Ornaments made with Hama beads!

Pao made more Christmas ornaments for her friends at school!

Knitted cowl, scarf – Cuello tejido – Super easy!

Thanks to my friend Carla from Vainilla & Cacao that inspired me to try knitting again! I found these great videos in YouTube they are in Spanish but very easy to follow even if you don’t speak Spanish! The first video teaches you How to cast on stitches using two needles
(The second link is in English) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T43J_cYlSU

The next video demonstrates how to knit the cowl using garter stitch (punto bobo). You will need to cast on 25 stitches and knit garter stich rows till the rectangle measures 45 centimeters. Then saw both ends together sideways (see picture). The video demonstrates how to align both ends to get the desired result. Super easy project for beginners!

Happy Thanksgiving ! Crochet toadstool red mushroom

Happy Thanksgiving! I am so grateful for the many blessings in my life, my family and friends are my biggest treasure! Here is a little toadstool red mushroom to keep you company or to try this long weekend. It only took me an hour or so from beginning to end. I used DMC embroidery tread instead of regular yarn, I like the look and feel of embroidery thread, no fussy finish. This is the blog that inspired me

Russian Dolls - Matriushkas - Babushkas

I have always admired Russian dolls, they are so beautiful!  I was inspired by Lucy’s  Cute & Easy Crochet Babushkas and was frantically looking for a pattern when I bumped into Jacquies’s (Bunny Mummy) Baby Bunny Tutorial
I thought, what if I turn the bunny upside down, and remove the ears? I have the perfect shape for my matriushka !!!
For the face I used white and yellow felt and stitched her eyes and mouth. They look so happy next to their wooden siblings (thanks Marta for such a beautiful and thoughtful birthday gift!!).
